Do I realize how much $$ that would cost them? Do I realize the length they would have to cover?" Good riddance! Mamason, you ain't heard nothin' yet. Word is the PHA plant should be up and running come January or February. Up til now they've only fired up those generators one at a time and complaints about the noise was plentiful each and every time. Well, except for Soesbe who said he didn't hear nothin'. Just wait til they fire up all 3 at the same time. Each one is as big as a 2-story house and the hum they make should be heard all the way up to the north end Kwik Star. Better get your ear muffs out.
Oh, and Soesbe's right about ADM not being able to afford to put up any kind of noise barrier. Haven't you heard? ADM's hurting. CEO Patricia Woertz saw her compensation package drop from $18 million in 2008 to a paltry $15 million this year.
Makes you wanna cry, huh?

Completely off topic, just a question after seeing a picture of Ms. Graf - is her maiden name Stubbs? |

Oh, no! You mean she's had more than three different last names? By all means, let's hang her! |

That was a pretty stupid remark, Barney. I was simply verifying that I know who she is now. Stop looking for fights where there are none. |

Reply with quote | #29 | Actually, franny, the comment was directed at Andy. I understand you were trying to place her as someone you might have known from school.
I just think it's unfortunate that we can all hide behind user names on here but find it okay to mention all of her last names like it reveals something about her personality. What's the point? I mean, if someone has something to say, then say it already! |

Even directed to Andy, that was unnecessary. You have no idea why Andy typed what he did, yet you automatically decide it's some sort of derogatory comment? Did you think perhaps he was helping others who might want to "place" her? |

Barney, I meant nothing other then to help Frannyjean recognize her. I didn't know her or her previous spouse, I could care less how many times she was married or to whom. I don't know her presonally now (or ever) and/or don't know her current spouse. Chill a little Barney. I meant nothing derrogitory or malicious. I could care less about her personal life, but your response seems to lead one to believe otherwise. Is there something I'm missing. The "Hmm" was just for a little humor (very little) only because you used it in your post. I'll gladly remove it if it implies something bad to you. |

Sorry, Andy, but after everything you've been hinting to about her, I assumed it meant you knew something that the rest of us didn't. Raise your hand if you voted in the most recent Clinton, Iowa city elections?

Barney, what have I been hinting that isn't related directly to local government and it's workings? I could care less about any ones personal life, unless it affects me and mine, her's does not, it's her political life that does and that's what I'll address. If I thought her current or former last name and/or her actions and/or comments while representing me, affected how she votes and conducts city business on my behalf, I would definitely bring it up. So far, I see no reason to do so. Like I said "Is there something I'm missing." If it's my comments on her relation with the former mayor, in so much as it is has to do with the way she would govern, that's fair game. |

Reply with quote | #34 | Let's see Mulholland or Mallicoat, Mallicoat or Mulholland, Mulholland or Mallicoat, Mallicoat or Mulholland. Who will I vote for? Whichever one Graf doesn't support. But what the hey, it's really just a change of names. Old ideas revisited and maybe repackaged.
Pray for that newfangled idea presented by the new City Administrator and the new Community Development Director, how about it, a long term Capital Improvements Plan, couple that with all those newfangled other idea's like communicating with the public and other strategic planning techniques. Maybe there's hope in spite of them. |
