FULTON, Ill. Fulton police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed and raped a female resident at gunpoint early Tuesday morning. Police responded at 12:55 a.m. to a Fulton residence for reports of a home invasion, armed robbery and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

According to a news release, an unknown subject armed with a handgun forced his way into the residence, robbed and sexually assaulted the resident. The woman was transported by Fulton Ambulance to Mercy North in Clinton for treatment.

The Whiteside County Sheriffs Department, the Morrison Police Department, Clinton Police Department, Illinois Department of Criminal Investigations and Illinois State Police Crime Scene investigators assisted Fulton police at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation as police try to locate the suspect.

Ice Rink

My thoughts on the proposed ice rink...

Instead of spending money (the city doesn't seem to have) on an ice rink, why not spend it (if they do have it) to repair the bike path? If you haven't been up there for a while, it's getting more and more narrow due to crumbling. That's also my attitude for new bike paths some of the council and the city want to create. Show me you can take care of what we have first, and then maybe I'll support your plans to add more.

In the past, the used to freeze the Chancy Park tennis courts. Can't they do the same with the courts on the Riverfront?

Finally, and most importantly, where is this money coming from?

After reading about the students stealing the teacher's Oxycodone pills at Clinton High I had to ask...say what??

How come my 14 year-old can't take Midol with her to school for her "time of the month" or she risks getting busted for having drugs but a teacher can take a powerful narcotic to work and leave it accessible to students?

How in the world did the students even know this teacher had such a powerful drug in his or her possession?

If this teacher needs to be on such a powerful pain killer I can only assume he or she is in such dire straits that he or she should probably be out on sick leave, not in the classroom. Don'cha think?

Is anyone aware of any stores in Clinton that will package & ship things? Specifically, I've got a poster size photo that's matted but unframed to get to my sister in Denver. I really don't want to discard the mat so it can be rolled and shipped in a tube...

Bluebird Cafe

Perfect Son and I had breakfast yesterday at the new Bluebird Cafe. Wow! That place is huge!

The service was good, the food was good and it was clean. We'll go back.

I was surprised to see that they're closed on Sunday, but will have extended late afternoon-early evening hours a few days per week, starting - I forget! Sometime soon.

Obama Watch

Some of the most interesting news items are buried on the back pages of newspapers.

For instance, this morning I read an AP article on page A12 that reported yesterday President Obama overturned a 22 year-old travel and immigration ban against people with HIV beginning early 2010. At the same time he signed a bill to extend an HIV/AIDS program that provides medical care and support services that presently covers about a half million people.

Wouldn't you think this would be on the front page since we're in the middle of a national health care debate that's about how many dollars we should spend to provide basic health care for all?

Hmmm...something to think about.

I am in need of some help. First I am trying to get the phone number of Travis Rupp. I saw his name in the newspaper earlier this year saying that he did lawn work and I need to get an estimate from him for next year. And along this same line, if anyone knows of someone who is in the business of lawn care (mowing, weed trimming etc) please post their name and phone number here. They must have their own insurance and equipment. Thanks!!!

City Charter

Somebody help me. Don't we have city charter that allows the citizens to call for a vote on things we may not agree with? I remeber a few, ok, quite a few years ago there would be referendums brought up for the publics vote.
I tried to read the city charter that is online and just couldn't understand it.

I would love to see the 19th Ave No project brought up for a vote! That is if it still can be.
